How OFNL Compare handles personal information and website analytics

1. Introduction

OFNL Compare is operated by Built By Board Ltd, company number 15604498. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the website. For privacy questions or requests, use our contact form.

2. Information we collect

Personal information: when you contact us, subscribe to updates or use our services, we may collect information such as your name, email address and phone number.
Technical request data: serving the website involves processing connection information such as your IP address and browser details. Analytics is separate from providing the pages you request.
Analytics: unless you turn it off, Google Analytics collects usage information such as page views, browser or device details and interactions to help us measure traffic and understand how the Site is used. After a successful availability check, analytics may receive only the broad alphabetic postcode area (for example, LU), never your full postcode or outward district.
Postcode checks: when you ask us to check availability, your full postcode is sent to our availability service and stored in your browser for the results journey. To show a nearby place label on results, our private postcode-area service may pass the postcode to postcodes.io and location coordinates to OpenStreetMap Nominatim. The exact postcode is not placed in the postcode-area request URL, returned by that service or stored in a shared HTTP cache.
Browser storage: we store your postcode and availability result for the results journey, along with your cookie-notice acknowledgement and analytics preference, on your device. Analytics is on by default, and a previous choice to turn it off remains off.

3. How we use your information

To provide and improve our services.
To respond to your inquiries and support requests.
To check broadband availability, show relevant results and provide a nearby place label.
To measure traffic and understand Site usage with Google Analytics unless you turn it off, using only a broad alphabetic postcode area after a successful postcode check.
To send you updates, offers or other information if you have opted in.

4. How we share your information

We may share information with trusted service providers that help us operate the Site, including hosting and analytics providers. Postcode checks may use our availability service, postcodes.io and OpenStreetMap Nominatim as described above.
We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Cookies

We use the first-party Google Analytics cookies _ga and _ga_F30RZ0LFRQ to measure traffic and understand how people use the Site. They are enabled by default and may remain for up to two years, with their expiry refreshed on return visits. We do not use them for advertising or personalisation.

Use Cookie settings at the bottom of the page to turn analytics off or on at any time. Turning it off stops further analytics tracking and clears analytics cookies accessible to this Site. You can also clear stored cookies and preferences in your browser. Turning analytics off does not remove information already collected; contact us with any related data request.

Our analytics setup denies advertising storage and disables advertising personalisation and Google signals. Google provides the analytics service on our behalf; see Google's explanation of Analytics data safeguards. Provider websites linked from OFNL Compare have their own privacy notices and cookie choices.
