OFNL Compare tracks 548 broadband packages from 20 providers on the Open Fibre Networks Limited (OFNL) network, across 51 areas with OFNL-enabled developments. This page explains where that data comes from, how we rank it, and how we are funded. Tariff data was last updated 6th August 2026.
Where our data comes from
Package prices, speeds, contract lengths and one-off fees are collected automatically from each provider's own public website and pricing pages. We do not receive tariff feeds from OFNL, and we are not supplied with data by the providers we list.
Provider ratings and review counts shown on our rankings come from Trustpilot. We display those figures as published; we do not collect, moderate or verify individual reviews ourselves.
Because we read published pricing pages rather than receiving data directly, errors are possible — a provider may change a price between collections, or present a tariff in a way our collection misreads. Always confirm the final price with the provider before ordering. If you spot something wrong, please tell us and we will correct it.
How we calculate effective monthly cost
Headline monthly prices are not comparable on their own. A package advertised at a low monthly rate can cost more overall once setup fees and router charges are included, particularly on a short contract where those one-off costs are spread across fewer months.
So alongside the advertised price we calculate an effective monthly cost, which spreads every unavoidable charge across the contract term:
Total contract cost = (monthly price + monthly router rental) × contract length + setup fee + router purchase cost + router delivery
Effective monthly cost = total contract cost ÷ contract length
A worked example: a package at £30.50 a month on a 12 month contract, with a £15 setup fee, a £35 router and £6 delivery, costs £422 over the term — an effective monthly cost of £35.17, not £30.50.
Our cheapest deals list is ordered by this effective monthly cost, lowest first, rather than by advertised price.
How we rank providers
Every provider on the OFNL network delivers service over the same physical fibre infrastructure. Connection speed and reliability are therefore determined by the network, not by which provider you buy from. What genuinely differs between providers is price, contract terms, customer service and extras such as static IP addresses.
Our provider rankings order providers by their Trustpilot rating, using the number of reviews to break ties so that a high score from very few reviews does not outrank a comparable score from thousands. Providers with no packages currently available are not listed.
This ranking reflects published customer sentiment only. It is not a test of network performance, and we do not independently measure speeds, installation times or support quality.
How we are funded
OFNL Compare is free to use. We are funded by paid placement: providers can pay to have particular packages promoted on the site. Promoted packages are shown above other results in our featured deals and in the main results list.
Paid placement affects the order packages appear in. It does not change the prices, speeds or contract terms we display, and it does not affect our provider rankings, which are ordered by Trustpilot rating as described above. The cheapest deals list is ordered by effective monthly cost regardless of any commercial arrangement.
We do not earn commission on sales, and no provider pays to be included in or excluded from our comparison. Every OFNL provider with publicly available packages is listed whether or not they have any commercial relationship with us.
What we do not cover
- We only cover broadband on the OFNL network. Deals on Openreach, Virgin Media or other networks are out of scope.
- We do not sell broadband, take orders or handle contracts. All purchases are made directly with the provider.
