FibreNest and OFNL: what has changed?
The completed sale to BUUK and how to check your broadband choices

The FibreNest sale completed in August 2025
Persimmon announced the sale of FibreNest to BUUK Infrastructure on 14 May 2025. The transaction completed on 5 August 2025. It is no longer awaiting the approvals described in the original announcement. Source: Persimmon half-year 2025 results, note 10.
Does that mean I can order any OFNL provider now?
Not automatically. Completion of an ownership change does not confirm which providers or packages can serve an individual address. Persimmon said BUUK would offer home buyers a larger choice of retail internet providers; that statement does not give an activation date for every home. Check your exact address with the provider you want to join. A FibreNest connection, a nearby OFNL development or a package appearing in our national comparison is not confirmation that you can order that deal.
How to check your options
- Review the services and prices available through your current FibreNest account.
- Use the OFNL residential provider directory and ask your preferred provider to confirm service at your address.
- Compare the total contract cost, upload speed, router, support and any early termination charge before agreeing a switch.
- Ask the new provider to confirm the activation date, equipment requirements and how the old service will be ended.
Switching away from FibreNest
FibreNest says its customers can use One Touch Switching to move to another provider. The new provider starts the process, and FibreNest confirms whether termination charges apply. This switching process does not itself establish that the new service is available. Source: FibreNest One Touch Switching.
Moving into a new home is different from switching an existing service at the same address. Confirm a new order with the provider and do not assume the previous occupier's service or contract transfers to you.
